.:A Winter Wedding Dream:. January 14, 2010

Hi all! Liddy here to give you some fantastic winter wedding ideas..

On this post I will show you some color ideas.. dress accessories.. reception accents.. basically everything you could ask for when hosting a winter wedding.

Now everyone thinks that Winter Wedding means Christmas and Christmas means you have to do Green and Red . NEGATIVE!  I think not.  Those colors are great for Christmas Day but really? .. the idea of having your colors be Red and Green scares me.  Unless your new last name is going to be Clause… let me show some much better color ideas :)

Look at this reception room with the twinkle lights on the ceiling and the overall dark yet cozy feel.. perfect for the Winter season.. And I loved this bridal gown how it looks like it has ice on it.

Now here are some ideas for invitations.. I really liked the color schemes.. the blues and greens and wine and green.. so chic!

Here are some color ideas for bridesmaids.. grey and red.. dark blue and wine.. also for bridesmaids why not have them carry lanterns?  OR I loooove these lanterns I found so if you don’t like the idea of carrying the lanterns then you could hang them around the reception.  Don’t like the color lanterns?  Check out the image with the glass lanterns and candles.  Those glass containers can also be placed on the reception tables.  So, your lanterns could move from the ceremony to the reception saving you money… :)

And speaking of the reception.. make your guests think they are in a winter wonderland with snowflake gingerbread cookies as your favor and an all white cake for dessert.  I also added another bridesmaid idea to this collage because I love the deep purple with the ivory flowers.. so simple but makes such a statement!   The collage below this is just for everything else you would need to make your Winter Wedding a Winter Dream.. including flowergirl dresses.. more bridal gowns and accessories and reception accents.

Winter Weddings can be a magical place for the bride and groom to showcase their love.  It’s also nice for destination weddings because most of your guests will be out of work or school for the holidays.   And to make matters even better.. think of it this way.. if you get married in January but you still want that hot, saucy Mexican honeymoon.. you can!  The weather is still warm there and you’ll get low season rates.  Perfect right?

Hope these ideas made you feel all cool inside :)

.:Great color combo for November:. November 12, 2009

Welcome back November!
Liddy here with an idea for you November brides!

November is such a great month to get married in. The weather is really starting to cool off and people are in early happy holiday mode. So, to welcome back this fabulous month of the year I thought it would be a great idea to offer a suggestion of a fantastic color combo for November weddings!  It’s a little non-traditional.. but work with me!

People usually think of yellows with the summer months but really when paired with a “wintery” color like gray; it looks amazing! Just make sure you’re doing more golden tones instead of the pastel-type yellow. This color combination is uber classy for a Fall wedding. Look at my collage of fun ideas!

yellowandgray1yellowandgray2

Fantastic right?  I LOVE the picture of the bride and groom’s feet showing off the color scheme.  You see how that couple even added some blue accents in there?  That will make it even more “winter-like.” A gray tuxedo for the boys is a wonderful idea with the brown shoes.  And I reallllllyyy like the bridesmaid dress paired with the gold shoes.   Don’t worry about the boys and girls matching too much with the gray tuxs and the gray dresses.  As you can see, the girls can do almost a “metallic type” dress AND with their gold accents, they will for sure look different then the boys!

If you think it might be too summer looking then add some more browns in there like with the boys’ shoes or the twigs with the favors.  You can always accent the reception with browns to make it appear to be more fall-ish!  Or maybe you could even have “rustic” elements at the ceremony with the aisle pieces.  There’s always little touches you can add to make it more unique to fit your personality.

Even your colder months need a little life to them– so why not add some sunshine??

Never thought about all this before? Well, I’m glad I could change your mind :)

::Wicked Love:: October 27, 2009

Hello brides!
Liddy here, and since I love Halloween I wanted to throw an idea out there that’s a little darker than most weddings..
Think of it, a wedding around Halloween that’s all gothic themed! Amazing, right? As you all have noticed, I LOVE themed weddings and when I can go all out with them, it makes the experience so much more enjoyable :) Most of these wonderful photos are courtesy of a little photographer named Elizabeth Ray.. she’s great.. you should check her out. SHOUT OUT!
Check out these fantastic invitations I found that look as if they were used back in medieval times. Almost as if they should have spider webs all over them.. wickedlove

and having the ceremony or reception in the French Quarter where 95% of the venues are haunted.. count me in!

Now for fun.. I found these items that would definitely fit in with the whole theme.. the flower girl’s dress is my favorite.  So Victorian!  And the “black magic” rose with the touch of black feathers on it? A dream!  Then, I thought it would be really interesting if your guests could all be in costumed attire and wear masks.  Makes me think of Phantom of the Opera..

masks

and for the bride.. I love these dark touches and the idea of wearing a red dress with a corset top!

accessories

Did you notice the black old time boots?  Very nice touch!

And for the cake.. you would have to do something out of the box.  Check out this cake and the cake topper.

And finally.. when it comes to little details (because you know I’m all about them!)  have a signature drink that is served to your guests when they enter the reception.  Look at this wonderful, bloody martini I found!  And for favors, I found these really cute boxes in the dark toned colors.  Inside you could get skeleton candy and have the box lined in satin as if it were a coffin.

Hope you enjoyed this wicked theme wedding.. and I hope everyone has a safe Halloween!

Eray here with a Super Amazing French Quarter Wedding.
Megan + Alex married October 3, 2009
locations: The Roosevelt Hotel : Jackson Square : Pat O’s:

Before the Ceremony Megan got ready at the Roosevelt hotel. I love the new renovations! I usually hate hotel carpet but this hotel is a flooring dream and added to every pic… Please take special note of her satin bridal robe. I don’t want to see anymore “bride” t-shirts. Megan has set the bar for pre-getting ready bridal attire :) The photo that stole my heart here would have to be the hummer limo. She arrived to smack down in the middle of Jackson Square by Hummer. Everyone was taking pictures and gathering around. I love seeing a hummer in front of St. Louis Cathedral.

The Ceremony was in Jackson Square.
Look at the the bunches of flowers placed along the aisles. It was such a pretty touch.
The “You May kiss the Bride”..! right in front with the Cathedral behind them. awww. More ceremonies should be here!

Just to make this wedding more amazing they had a jazz band escort them by Second Line through the Quarter!
People were joining in the parade snapping pics and cheering them on. I could hold my camera in my arms forever for the pics from the second line. I went with a antique toned feel for a lot of these edits. I love the pic of them kissing in front of Pat O’s.

Pat O’s…. Reception…. Dance Party.. Fleur de lis cake……balcony on Bourbon Street…
Megan and Alex…. You could win awards for your wedding! Congratulations! Come back to New Orleans!!!

Elizabeth here: check out the latest wedding!
Melissa and Christopher
Venues: The W Hotel + The Fine Arts Center
Color: Purple!

I loved her getting ready pictures that we did in the Room before at the W. The photo in the middle row next to the shoe pictures I fell in love with when I was editing it. I added blue tones and oh my goodness the photo just came to life!

I met Chris in the courtyard and a few minutes to do a ::.:*Groom* PhotoShoot*::.: He is the best groom I have photographed! every photo he just looks so happy and natural and each photo just has a different personality.

and awwww When Melissa came down all ready with her bouquet she looked like she was made for the W courtyard. Her purple dress was this perfect burst of color. Imagine these photos if she was in a white dress and how different it would look. We hung out in the courtyard (and the air conditioned room ;) ) before the limo arrived. Right before they got out the second line umbrella’s and we were able to get some pictures in the direct sun. It worked out perfect!

The RECEPTION + CEREMONY: ::.The Fine Arts Center::.:
talk about an entrance: They did a second line down the aisle together!
The photo in the 2nd row where their heads are in a circle was taken the right after the ceremony when they walked down the aisle and out the door. They were cracking up and laughing so I snapped them through the window. I love that photo because its a mystery to me.

I was holding back about talking about the wallpaper at the Fine Arts Center…until now..It the *BEST* photo-op reason to book this venue. The walls are silver with black velvet!!!! Right by the door there is a magnificent space of blank wall… All photographers please take note of this space. You might miss it on a crowded evening.
When we got back to the W they saw the “What is your Wish?” glowing on the wall and that was were we started!
The courtyard is so beautiful at night and I’m so glad we they wanted to do end of the night pics here!!

::.::.::CONGRATULATIONS::.::.::.;
Melissa and Christopher!!!!!!!

:::Cake Pulls Baby!::: October 1, 2009

i love lucky charms

Who doesn’t love the tradition of the cake pull? Well for those of you who don’t know.. At the reception the single ladies of the bridal party OR any single immediate female family member crowds around the cake table.  When the cake is made several “pulls”or trinkets are inserted into the cake that have string attached to them. Each of the single ladies surrounding the cake grab onto one of these strings and pull. On each of these strings is a different trinket.

Here is a list of some of the common trinkets that are found in cake pulls and what they mean:

-Ring = Next to Be Engaged

-Fleur de Lis = Prosperity

-Anchor = Stable Life

-Spinning Wheel = Wisdom

-Captain’s Wheel = Shows Confidence

-Hot Air Balloon = Travel & Adventure

-Shell = Eternal Beauty

-High Heel = Life of Style/Fashion

-Wedding Bells = Next to be Married

-Flower = Blossoming Love

-Four Leaf Clover or Horseshoe = Good Luck

-Picture Frame = A Happy Life

-Heart = You have or will find True Love

-Telephone = Good News

-Thimble = You are or will be an Old Maid

-Wishbone = Success

Hope this made you feel lucky :)

Rockin out,

Liddy
