.:Great color combo for November:. November 12, 2009

Welcome back November!
Liddy here with an idea for you November brides!

November is such a great month to get married in. The weather is really starting to cool off and people are in early happy holiday mode. So, to welcome back this fabulous month of the year I thought it would be a great idea to offer a suggestion of a fantastic color combo for November weddings!  It’s a little non-traditional.. but work with me!

People usually think of yellows with the summer months but really when paired with a “wintery” color like gray; it looks amazing! Just make sure you’re doing more golden tones instead of the pastel-type yellow. This color combination is uber classy for a Fall wedding. Look at my collage of fun ideas!

Fantastic right?  I LOVE the picture of the bride and groom’s feet showing off the color scheme.  You see how that couple even added some blue accents in there?  That will make it even more “winter-like.” A gray tuxedo for the boys is a wonderful idea with the brown shoes.  And I reallllllyyy like the bridesmaid dress paired with the gold shoes.   Don’t worry about the boys and girls matching too much with the gray tuxs and the gray dresses.  As you can see, the girls can do almost a “metallic type” dress AND with their gold accents, they will for sure look different then the boys!

If you think it might be too summer looking then add some more browns in there like with the boys’ shoes or the twigs with the favors.  You can always accent the reception with browns to make it appear to be more fall-ish!  Or maybe you could even have “rustic” elements at the ceremony with the aisle pieces.  There’s always little touches you can add to make it more unique to fit your personality.

Even your colder months need a little life to them– so why not add some sunshine??

Never thought about all this before? Well, I’m glad I could change your mind :)

::Wicked Love:: October 27, 2009

Hello brides!
Liddy here, and since I love Halloween I wanted to throw an idea out there that’s a little darker than most weddings..
Think of it, a wedding around Halloween that’s all gothic themed! Amazing, right? As you all have noticed, I LOVE themed weddings and when I can go all out with them, it makes the experience so much more enjoyable :) Most of these wonderful photos are courtesy of a little photographer named Elizabeth Ray.. she’s great.. you should check her out. SHOUT OUT!
Check out these fantastic invitations I found that look as if they were used back in medieval times. Almost as if they should have spider webs all over them.. wickedlove

and having the ceremony or reception in the French Quarter where 95% of the venues are haunted.. count me in!

Now for fun.. I found these items that would definitely fit in with the whole theme.. the flower girl’s dress is my favorite.  So Victorian!  And the “black magic” rose with the touch of black feathers on it? A dream!  Then, I thought it would be really interesting if your guests could all be in costumed attire and wear masks.  Makes me think of Phantom of the Opera..

masks

and for the bride.. I love these dark touches and the idea of wearing a red dress with a corset top!

accessories

Did you notice the black old time boots?  Very nice touch!

And for the cake.. you would have to do something out of the box.  Check out this cake and the cake topper.

And finally.. when it comes to little details (because you know I’m all about them!)  have a signature drink that is served to your guests when they enter the reception.  Look at this wonderful, bloody martini I found!  And for favors, I found these really cute boxes in the dark toned colors.  Inside you could get skeleton candy and have the box lined in satin as if it were a coffin.

Hope you enjoyed this wicked theme wedding.. and I hope everyone has a safe Halloween!

::.:Featured Wedding::.::. EMILY AND JEFF::.: San Francisco:The Argonaut Hotel September 12, 2009

Hello!!!! Eray back again for to Feature the lastest lovebirds:::.:Emily and Jeff::.: Married August 30, 2009 at the Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco. If you like color and want to see the ::.::Magic::.: of a 5 color palette color scheme (brown, blue, orange, yellow, red) you need to see the work of our Lovely bride Emily.

It was indeed a true San Francisco foggy chilly Sunday afternoon.
The Argonaut located in the Fisherman’s Wharf area – a busy place with nice views of the bay, lots of boats, and streetcars. Right outside the hotel a man was handing out maps of the city so I snagged one for that cute ring shot on the left. They met at a little bar on Castro and Noe in Noe Valley.
intro

I love getting ready pictures and all moments girly. Emily looked like a hollywood starlet getting ready with the leopard robe and her blond hair pinned in those glamourous curls. As soon as she put her veil on she was beaming. It was such a cute moment! Everyone had tears in their eyes. My photo crush of the wedding would have to be her bouquet pictures. They embody color.
getting ready

As soon as she was ready we were off to meet the groom Jeff. The photo here on the right was taken where we met them in the courtyard. I love the pink flowers surrounding that shot.
So we went photo crazy in that area. Walked down to the street cars and tried to stay out the wind in this back lot with a pier going out on the water.
the shoot
I recommend having some photo fun with every wedding I shoot. They were awesome! They glam walked across the piers, looked elegant, got serious, and had fun!

The wind kept blowing the veil in his face. I don’t why but I love the photo on the right. It’s like a photo blooper that had to make the final cut.

Are you in the mood for a beautiful ceremony? They had a traditional Jewish Ceremony outside in the courtyard. You can just feel how happy they were through their smiles and the way they looked at each other. You could feel it too coming off the guests and family in the audience. Love is beautiful to photograph.

After the ceremony there was a nice cocktail hour with appetizers and music. The Dinner was made of the different kinds of cuisine you find in San Francisco. Each buffet table represented a different part of town like the Mission, Chinatown, and Fisherman’s wharf. Bottom right picture: that veil had a mind of its own.

And yes! The Dance Party! This group did not hold back. They danced with chairs, in circles, kicklines, with streamers you name it.

Congratulations Emily and Jeff!!!!!!!

Looking for a Fall Wedding? August 21, 2009

Hi there!
So, summer is almost over and Fall is coming on up! To ring in the new season I thought it would be a great idea to give you gals some tips and FAQs on having a Fall Wedding.

Here’s a few of them to help you out:
- “I’m having a Fall Wedding, do I have to use pumpkins as an accessory?”: NO! You can’t even imagine the amount of girls that I get that ask me that question. Brides think.. hmm.. Fall Wedding.. October is a good month in Fall and in that case I have to have pumpkins as an accent. Absolutely not! Yes, it can be a cute idea but so many people do that nowadays and why would you want to be like everyone else? Instead of pumpkins why not go with that nature theme and do branches or twigs? or if you like the idea of having something edible.. then what about apples or oranges? That “granny smith apple” green is a great color for a Fall Wedding and orange is always an excellent accent color.. don’t use it as the main color though, and you should dare to be different :) Look at these photos of how to incorporate nature into your recpetion…fall tabletwig candletwigs on ceiling-FALL

-While we’re on the topic of good colors for a Fall Wedding..  you don’t always have to go with chocolate brown.  Brown is a typical color that every bride thinks she has to use in her wedding.  FALSE!  Some great alternatives for colors are deep plums, golds, greens, rust or burnt orange, and tans.  If you are wanting to go with a chocolate brown then maybe think of putting the groom and groomsmen in that color.  The boys don’t always have to be in black.  And if you are doing a casual outdoor wedding then you could even put the guys in a khaki or tan.  For the girls.. I love when the bridesmaids don’t always look the same.  A common misconception is that the bridesmaid and maid of honor have to be in the same color.. not true.. let the maid of honor stand out.  If you can’t decide on one color then let the maid of honor be different.  She is your best gal pal right?  Let her show some flair! I found these two photos.. they both show the idea of having the MOH in a patterned dress.. cutepatterned MOH

-”Do bridesmaid dresses in Fall Weddings have to be long?”:  Nope!  I will say this though.. the closer you get to December.. the colder it gets and then you might want to consider full length dresses.  But, if your wedding is in September or October.. let your girls rock the tea length or cocktail dresses!  It’s still semi hot outside and it would be more comfortable for them.  October is usually the month with the best weather so let your gal pals enjoy it.  You can also have them in strapless, I promise it won’t look too summery!  As long as you have them in the more fall tones then they’ll be fine. Both of the pictures I showed you above have them in cocktail length dresses and both are so chic!

- Another great way to incorporate Fall into your wedding is through texture and lighting.  For the reception tables you can use heavier fabrics that have a little bit of feeling to them.  What I mean by this is that you can easily put a burlap tablecloth with a softer fabric on top.  Or you can do a silk.  Just think texture!  In the summer and spring months you can’t get away with this as easy because its so hot outside you want to keep everything to a minimum and have a “light” feeling overall.  Lighting can also bring depth to your wedding.  Dramatic lighting on the fall decor (like a tree for example) would be a great touch to make the room feel cozy or you could even just “up-light” architectural features with your fall color scheme.  When I think of Fall, I think of a warm/cozy feel to the room.  Play on that idea!  And if you do want  just a “warm” lighting atmosphere.. add lanterns or candles.. check these babies out!lanterns fall lightspaperlantern

Hope these ideas get you in the mood for the new season.. even though New Orleans doesn’t technically have a Fall.. you can still rock it at your event! Give your guests the illusion they’re in a state where the leaves do actually change :)
